OPEN DOORS//FUNDRAISER FOR VENEZUELA

Our end-of-season party sadly had to be cancelled because of the extreme heat, so we're taking this opportunity to both celebrate everything we shared last season and kick off a brand new one.

On Saturday 5 September, we'll be opening our doors to everyone - our regular students, but also anyone who's curious about Jezebel Studio. Whether you're already part of the community or simply interested in getting to know us, you're warmly invited to come by, meet our teachers, discover the spaces, ask questions and soak up the atmosphere.

We're putting together a full day of activities, including a community closet sale and workshops. All proceeds from the day will be donated to support the people of Venezuela, following the devastating earthquake that recently struck the country.

POLE SPACE

14h> 15h30 YOGA W/ Bissi

Join Bissi - this time not on a pole- but for an all-round hatha yoga class, open to everyone, no experience required! Together, we’ll relax, try to feel more grounded and comfortable in our bodies, and let go of perfectionist tendencies.

The class includes pranayama, meditation, mantra, asana & some yoga nidra. Wear some comfy clothes & bring something to cover your eyes. Yoga is never just about the I, but about the us. Let’s gather for Venezuela!

Bissi has been teaching yoga since 2021 with passion and gentleness. They are a certified 200h hatha yoga & 60h yoga nidra teacher & have assisted numerous at yogalife teacher trainings.

16h30 > 18h TWERK & IMPROV W/ Marlla

The aim of this workshop is to move without judgement, exploring the space and mobility of our pelvis, producing energy by connecting with our core. Getting involved with the brazilian popular music (pop, funk, brega-funk), to sweat, to work on our self confidence, to have fun and to discover new movements as tools of care and stimulation of pleasure with your own body, activating emotional and bodily healing mechanisms based on shaking and releasing.

18h > 20h GUIDED POLE JAM MEETS REGGEAPOLE W/ Dieguito Tigrito

Shake off the summer and welcome the new Jezebel season through the hips! In honour of Latinx Heritage Month, Diego invites you to a guided pole jam inspired by reggaeton: Latin rhythms and the expressive power of the pelvis, while acknowledging the Afro-Caribbean, Jamaican, Panamanian and Puerto Rican roots that made these expressions possible.

Expect a warm-up, shaking, hip-focused exercises and movement prompts before we open the floor for collective movement, freestyle and play. Bring clothes and layers to play with, and don't hesitate to bring your heels if that's your jam. This session is not intended for absolute beginners, you'll get the most out of it if you're already comfortable with some basic pole moves.

Come move, connect and celebrate with us while helping raise funds for Venezuela. Afterwards, stay for snacks, drinks and community.

Disclaimer: We don't understand "Latin" culture as a single culture, but as a diverse and evolving collection of histories, identities, rhythms and experiences. This jam is not intended to represent the full diversity of Latin American, Caribbean or Hispanic cultures. Rather, it offers an opportunity to celebrate and engage with some of the movement practices and musical traditions that have informed reggaeton, while acknowledging the Afro-Caribbean, Jamaican, Panamanian and Puerto Rican roots of reggaeton.

OPEN SPACE

15H > 20H COMMUNITY CLOSET SALE

Pre-loved pole wear, lingerie, statement pieces, shoes, accessories and other gems - all donated by the Jezebel teachers. Give these fabulous pieces a second life while helping us raise funds for Venezuela.

If you have some nice pieces yourself that you would like to donate, you are very welcome to bring them and sell them to the price of your liking. Make a curated selection - not all your unworn clothes of the past 10 years, please - and take back home what you didn’t sell.

15H > 20H FOOD & DRINKS

Come hungry! Rosy will be cooking up some homemade Venezuelan goodness for us to share throughout the afternoon.

Arepas Rellenas: delicious Venezuelan corn-flour pockets, cooked and stuffed with love. Made simply with corn flour and water, they’re naturally gluten-free and perfect for a little snack (or several).

To drink, we’ll have Papelón con Limón: a refreshing Venezuelan drink made with panela (unrefined cane sugar), water and fresh lemon. Sweet, tangy and very refreshing!

And because one homemade treat is never enough, Bissi will also be bringing a homemade cake to add a little extra sweetness to the day. 🍰
