Through rituals of bad sounds (the gender of sound, anne carson) we will explore laughter. We will use our bodies and faces to exaggerate our chuckles, chortles, giggles, sniggers, snickers, cackles, howls, roars, and tee-hee’s through movement, games, and experimental sounding chorus.
What kind of laughter are we today? Do we want to laugh or cry? Or laugh and cry? Did you know that we use the same muscles for laughing and crying?
In this workshop we summon The Fool in us, the Joker, the ridiculous. In a world where we are asked to “grow up”, be hardworking, ambitious, productive, where losing face is seen as shameful, how can we reclaim the Fool in us that is perpetually curious, dead serious about play, that is not afraid of shame, that takes social risks for freedom?
Participants are invited to bring a prop that makes them feel as uncool as possible. You can, but it's not a must.
All levels are welcome. Also complete beginners.
No need for a particular clothing wear. Wear whatever you feel good in.
